Kerry Bone – Herbal Therapy & the Microcirculation

The Irish Register of Herbalists was delighted to welcome Professor Kerry Bone to Ireland for his fascinating talk about the microcirculation and the role of herbal medicine in June.

Microvascular dysfunction has been associated with a broad spectrum of health conditions, spanning cardiac, vascular, renal, hepatic, ocular, metabolic, sensory and neuropsychiatric domains.  In the light of evidence that the earliest indicators of cardiovascular disease appear at microcirculation level therapeutic approaches targeting the preservation or restoration of microcirculatory function are important.  Professor Bone gave us the benefit of his wide experience on this and discussed how it is becoming an increasing area of focus for research and therapeutics.

Thank you to all those who attended.  The discussions and exploration of different herbs for this important aspect of the cardiovascular system was felt to be extremely useful by all those who attended.

We finished the day with a visit to the Physic Garden, which was looking amazing, thanks to the work of John Maher and all the volunteers.
