This talk will take a more detailed look at how both endogenous fungi and medicinal fungi may interact with our immune system via human dendritic cells to modulate an intelligent host response.  Fred will also discuss how fungi, endogenous or otherwise, provide a reservoir of essential nutrients, vitamins and enzymes that our bodies can use to optimise health and vitality, maintaining the balance of our micro-flora as well as assisting with the digestion and assimilation of problematic substances such as wheat gluten. Examples from his practice will be given.

  1. A walk around St. Anne’s Park to identify and study the growth and natural history of native fungi and lichens, with a view to understanding how adaptations to their environment can inform us about their potential usefulness to humans as medicines and nutritional agents.
