 Presented by:

Frances Daly, Clinical Aromatherapist and Director, Irish International School of Sports Massage

The term “Aromatherapy” is used widely to include non-therapeutic and therapeutic uses.  Indeed, many herbalists regularly use external applications in their practice (creams, ointments, compresses and oils).

With increasing general use, it is important for the practitioner to understand safety, efficacy and dosing, as well as how aromatherapy may potentially enhance and add value within a herbal medicine practice.   This seminar will focus on some of the main essential oils and examine their use in inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other arthritic conditions. Topics will include therapeutic use, safety, dilutions and best forms of application.

Of interest to herbalists, Frances will also discuss how to get creams/ointments ready for the market most economically, whilst working within EU law.

Frances Daly has been a Clinical Aromatherapist for over 30 years.  She is Director of the Irish International School of Sports Massage and Co-Director of Cydonia EOP Ireland.  Having completed Sports Medicine in the Royal College of Surgeons, she has worked with athletes at an international level for over 30 years in the prevention and management of injuries.  She is also responsible for the formulation of essential oils products for over 14 years.   She is currently Chair of FICTA and Educational Officer for the IMTA.
